For the first time this year, Mentrau Iaith Cymru is holding a national competition to encourage people across Wales to create scarecrows.

Creating scarecrows is often a popular competition at small local shows across the country, but with these shows cancelled or postponed throughout Wales this year, the Mentrau want to hold a competition to raise spirits and bring communities across Wales together to compete to find Wales’ Best Bwgan Brain and the 2020 Bwgan Brain champion.

To enter this competition all you need to do is create a scarecrow on the theme ‘Wales’. Competitors are encouraged to reuse and recycle what they already have in their houses or sheds and be as creative as possible. You will need to place your scarecrow in a safe and

suitable position and send a picture of your masterpiece to your local Menter Iaith by Monday, August 3rd. Share your photos on social media using #bwganbrain.Bwgan Brain

The winner of each area will go on to the national round to compete for the special Brwydr y Bwgan Brain 2020 prize, a unique and colourful painting by the artist Rhys Padarn Jones. The well known and popular radio and television presenter Ifan Jones Evans will be tasked with judging the national round and Mentrau Iaith Cymru will announce the national winner on Monday, August 17th.

To enter your local round contact your local Menter Iaith and send your picture by August 3rd. For the latest competition updates follow #bwganbrain on social media.
