Llanast Llanrwst

Llanast Llanrwst festival is back this year for the first time in a while… and celebrating 20 years of Llanast Llanrwst!

The festival will start on the Friday night with a gig by Candelas and Yr Anghysur in Y Clwb, Llanrwst – a big thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, it’s amazing that the tickets sold out in just 3 hours! To add to the buzz on Friday night, Llanrwst Town Council will be turning on the town’s Christmas lights on the square.

On Saturday morning there will be a disco for the children at Glasdir (Llanrwst Library), and Santa Claus will pay a visit. There will also be a Nature Walk for new Welsh speakers and fluent speakers starting from St Grwst Church at 10am, led by Cymdeithas Edward Llwyd. Then there will be live music throughout the afternoon in various pubs in the town – Eagles Hotel, Pen y Bryn, New Inn and Llywelyn’s. Artists who are playing on the Saturday are Meinir Gwilym, TewTewTennau, Lastig Band, Mynadd, Hap a Damwain and a local crew leading the folk sessions. All of this is free!

Dafydd Iwan and Garry Hughes’s gig at Nant Conwy Rugby Club on Saturday night will also be a
part of the festival, and then there will be a disco at Llywelyn’s to finish off a day full of Welsh
anguage music. If you haven’t had enough, there’ll be jamming sessions on the Sunday in different pubs around the town. The full timetable is on our Facebook page. It’s going to be a brilliant weekend!

One of the main aims of Llanast Llanrwst is to provide events and Welsh music for the residents of Llanrwst and the surrounding area, but also to support local businesses and involve the whole town in the festival and Llanast arrangements throughout the year.

Hedd Fôn one of the most recent organisers of the Festival said: “20 years of Llanast Llanrwst is something to celebrate, and I hope many of you will come along to celebrate this milestone with us. Looking forward to seeing you on the 1st and 2nd of December!”
