Hapus i Siarad / Happy to Talk

The “Hapus i Siarad” (Happy to Talk) project provides an opportunity for Welsh learners to speak Welsh in small local businesses that are “hapus i siarad” (happy to talk). Small businesses form an important part of our communities and every day lives. And they are perfect places to speak Welsh. This project between the National Centre for Learning Welsh and the Mentrau Iaith is starting off as a pilot in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Ceredigion and Flint and Wrexham.

Between 15 January and 30 June 2024 Welsh learners will receive a ‘loyalty’ card to collect stamps or signatures from the businesses they’ve been to have a chat. When the card is full (only 3 stamps needed), they’ll return the card to their tutor or send us a picture of it. The card will enter a raffle to win a voucher to spend in the businesses that were part of the project in the area.

If you are learning Welsh and want to be part of the project, get in touch with us (post@mentrauiaith.cymru) for more information and to get your card.

All businesses that take part are showing this poster. So, keep your eyes open for them!

If you are running a business or are working in a business that would be “hapus i siarad”, get in touch with us (post@mentrauiaith.cymru) for a chat and our materials.
