Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Maldwyn a’r Gororau
Mentrau Iaith Cymru and Menter Iaith Maldwyn had a very successful week at the National Eisteddfod in Meifod this year where we welcomed over 2000 visitors to our stall. A heartfelt thanks must be given to the friendly people of Montgomery-shire for their warm welcome and enthusiasm over the past year.
The people of Montogmery-shire have an unique dialect, and from this we developed a theme of celebrating Wales’ unique dialects, via the form of a Dialect Booth and various art workshops under the experienced hand of the artist Nerys Jones.

Menter Iaith Maldwyn hope to create an on-line portal of all these photos and clips so that we can celebrate and safeguard some of Wales’ most unique dialects for future generations.
We also held various workshops that included; Street Dance, Clog Dancing, Beat Boxing and much more. Alongside this we ensured a week full of Music of all kinds with sets played by Carw (a local electrical band) Y Trŵbz, Sorela, Plethyn and local school choirs from Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd and Ysgol Pontrobert.
Drawing the week to a close we held a discussion panel, in partnership with the Campaign to Make the Web more Welsh that was chaired by Dylan Iorwerth. This discussion raised many interesting points and we hope that it will help to form the focus of future campaigns to promote the use of Welsh on-line.
We would like to thank everybody who helped to ensure that the Mentrau Iaith once again had a great week at the Eisteddfod and a huge thank you to all that visited us during the week. We now look forward to visiting the Eisteddfodau in Flintshire and Monmouthshire next year.
