Love football?

We want YOU to write a footy chant – a song or rap for the Wal Goch to sing out loud to support Cymru at Euro2020.

What?

Write a ‘chant’ using some Cymraeg words for us all to shout from the stands or from our living rooms. Go for it!

It needs to be performed un-accompanied, so no background music. But claps are a great way to keep a beat.

Who can compete?

There are 3 categories – primary school age, secondary school age and adults.

You can compete as an individual, as a group, a school or a club.

A panel of judges will pick the top 3 from each category to compete in the final round.

The winner will be decided by a public vote on social media.

How to compete:

Send a recording of yourself performing the chant to your local Menter Iaith including this form. You can find a list and map of the Mentrau Iaith here, including contact details.

Need help with Welsh words and phrases? Here’s a list of footy terms in Welsh, or contact your Menter Iaith for some advice on how to include some Welsh words into your chant.

Why compete?

The FAW are looking for new chants for the Red Wall to support Cymru, from home and from the stands.

Winners of each category will receive a special shirt signed by the Euro2020 squad. The composer of the most popular ‘chant’ will receive the chance to visit a squad training session.

When?

Send your videos before the 12th of May.

The FAW will announce the winners on the 3rd of June, just in time for Euro2020!
