Your Welsh Festival!

Following the success of Parti Ponty last year when we welcomed over 5000 visitors  you will be very pleased to hear that this famous one day festival will be back again this year.

It will be held on Saturday, 16th July at Ynysangharad Park Pontypridd between 10am and 7pm.

The festival organised by Menter Iaith Rhondda Cynon Taf provides a stage for a range of performers and groups who work in Welsh, also giving the public a chance to gather information about a variety of services and Welsh organisations operating in the area.

Einir Sion, Chief Executive, Menter Iaith Rhondda Cynon Taf aid:

“It’s my pleasure to announce that Parti Ponty is back this year. Its astounding success last year proved that Parti Ponty has an important place in the county’s annual calendar of events.

We have responded to feedback collected last year while developing ideas so you can expect more activities for children and young people as well as more stalls and longer running hours.

We are looking forward to seeing you there enjoying the Welshness of the area during this fun filled day.”

This year will be a fantastic family and community day with lots of stalls, music and workshops supported by RCT County Borough Council and Heritage Lottery. As well as last years designated areas we have added a few more features this year.

If you are a young budding scientist and you enjoy the Gwyddonle at the National Eisteddfod every year you will have a great time in our excellent science area with all the activities based on local industrial heritage.

If you are creative you will enjoy our ‘Ardal Creu’ where you will have an opportunity to design, paint, colour and glue from morning till late.

All arts and crafts activities will be based on an art deco theme to coincide with the Lido, Pontypridd’s construction period.

Local school choirs will be performing all day in the centre of town and in the festival on the new performance stage in the bandstand.

There will be a bouncy slide for the most energetic visitors!

If you feel still have some energy left after all this and you want to dance all night there will be a night of entertainment at Clwb y Bont and the New Muni.

The excitement is building at Menter Iaith and throughout the county with schools already taking part in music workshops and everybody enjoying community activities, all of which lead up to the big day.
