Mentrau Iaith Cymru has recently achieved the PQASSO Quality Mark award recognising the excellent work it does as a third sector organisation in Wales.
Lowri Jones, Chair of Mentrau Iaith Cymru says;
“We are very pleased to have received this recognition of Mentrau Iaith Cymru’s governance and management arrangements within the third sector family. The self-assessment and external assessment process has been extremely beneficial in the review and formalisation of systems within the organisation that has, in the process, made the organization more efficient and effective. In a time of public miss-trust in charities, reaching this quality goal adds another string to our bow. The local mentrau are also completing the self-assessment process and are happy to be able to go through every element of PQASSO through the medium of Welsh – an important aspect for us as language initiatives.”
PQASSO is part of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), and is the only UK quality standard designed to help third sector organisations operate more effectively and efficiently. Mentrau Iaith Cymru was assessed against the 11 standards of effective practice in PQASSO, including in governance, leadership and management, managing staff and volunteers and managing money, and proved to meet all standards.

Mentrau Iaith Cymru is the national organisation which supports the work of 22 local Mentrau Iaith across Wales. Mentrau Iaith Cymru supports the network of Mentrau Iaith through a wide range of activities and service areas, including marketing and communication, training and influencing for the benefit of the Welsh language and Welsh speakers. The principle of sharing – information, resources, experiences and ideas – is central to the organisation’s work.
