Families are offered a day of adventure at Glan-llyn on the 5th of October to coincide with the ‘Shwmae Su’mae!’ national Welsh celebrations.
Nia Thomas, who heads Menter Iaith Môn said:
“Having fun in Welsh is our aim as language enterprises and here’s a perfect opportunity to have outdoor adventure for families across North Wales, whether they’re first-language Welsh speakers or a family with Welsh learners. We’ve had great feedback from past events where families from all language backgrounds enjoyed themselves on the high ropes and on the lake, all cooperating, screaming and laughing through the medium of Welsh!”
The day includes four activities supervised by Glan-llyn’s professional trainers including rowing and ropes, a generous lunch, and a bus from Anglesey (stopping at Holyhead, Llangefni, Llanfairpwll, and by request along the A5 in Gwynedd and Conwy). Families from other directions in Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire or Wrexham who wish to drive to Glan-llyn independently are welcome to join the Family Day onsite.
Managed by the Urdd youth movement, Glan-llyn adventure camp, located on the shores of Llyn Tegid lake near Bala, is a popular destination for children and young people throughout the year but here is a golden opportunity for a day-trip with families in a supportive immersive Welsh environment.
The trip which includes four activities, transport, and a hearty meal is at a reduced cost of: £6 for children under 4, £19 for children aged 4-8, £24 for children 9-11, and £29 for young people and adults. For further information contact Menter Iaith Môn by emailing hanna@mentermon.com or calling 07703671265. Registration is on a first-come basis with the deadline being Monday 23rd of September.
The aim of Menter Iaith Môn is to promote and facilitate the use of the Welsh language on Anglesey, in part by offering inspiring opportunities and experiences through the medium of Welsh to develop personal and social skills and enable individuals to enrich their community life.
