A free entry fun-packed festival will take over Caerphilly Castle on Saturday June 25th.

Ffiliffest is Menter Caerffili’s summer celebration of the Welsh language and of local Welsh traditions and the event will include performances, entertainment, activities, workshops and a chance to explore the rooms, corridors and towers of Caerphilly Castle.

Menter Caerffili has worked closely with Cadw, community groups and performers to plan the event which is unique to the area.  Hundreds of local school children have been preparing and practising traditional Welsh folk dancing to stage the largest performance in the county as one of the highlights of the event.

There will also be fantastic performances by the band Clinigol, the soloist John Nicholas and the S4C star Martyn Geraint. Gift and food stalls, activities and fun educational workshops will also be at the event including an arts and craft tent, Yoga session, retro games area, a toddlers cinema showing S4C cartoons and all this is within the unique setting of the Castle.

Bethan Jones of Menter Caerffili explains the reasons behind holding the event:

“At Ffiliffest, we welcome people of all ages to enjoy Welsh language and culture in a fantastic setting. This event provides opportunities for people to make contact with the language and to enjoy a variety of activities regardless of language ability. We are really excited to see this event grow year by year.”

Ffiliffest  takes place on Saturday, June 25th between 10:30 – 16:00 at Caerphilly Castle.  For more information about the event, visit Menter Caerffili’s website or contact on 01443 820913.
